Ringo Starr‘s reputation has gotten a little racier lately. It seems there’s been some confusion about whether he’s involved with a sex toy called Ring O. As a result, the legendary Beatles drummer challenged the Ring O trademark in a legal battle over the name.

He’s recently dropped the legal case, however, much to the sex toy manufacturers’ pleasure. According to the dismissal settlement, Starr has consented to the use of the name Ring O “only in connection with adult aids and desensitizing sprays, and so long as there is a separation between the word ‘RING’ and the letter ‘O.”’ The Ring O is part of the Screaming O range, with other names including the Swingo, The Big O, and the Primo, which combined have sold 25 million products around the world. The creator and star of “I May Destroy You” was named Leading Actress at the BAFTAs and dedicated her award to the intimacy coordinator she worked with, Ita O’Brien. “Thank you for your existence in our industry, for making the space safe, for creating physical, emotional and professional boundaries so that we can make work about exploitation, loss of respect, about abuse of power without being exploited or abused in the process,” said Coel. 

O’Brien has worked as an intimacy coordinator on a number of shows exploring consent, including Normal People and Sex Education. By far the most popular site was Pornhub, which was visited by 15 million people—50% of men, and 16% of women. The figures rose substantially among younger age groups, with a third of young women and three-quarters of young men visiting Pornhub. The study also quoted Pornhub’s own claims that the average UK visitor spent 10 minutes and 20 seconds on the site—those naughty Brits!
