Director J.J. Abrams teased fans that there would be LGBTQ representation in the new Star Wars film. And fans finally got to see the same-sex relationship in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker during the film’s release. Two female members of the Resistance shared a kiss in one celebration scene in the film — a first for the franchise’s 40-year history on the silver screen.

“In the case of the LGBTQ community, it was important to me that people who go to see this movie feel that they’re being represented in the film,” Abrams said. Many fans speculated that the same-sex sequence would be shared by Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Finn (John Boyega), but Abrams quickly shot that idea down during an interview with Variety. LGBTQ folks are very pleased to see a same-sex relationship in a galaxy far, far away.

Streamers Dominated Pornhub Searches In 2019

Streamer Belle Delphine, a prominent YouTuber who announced plans to launch her own Pornhub channel, was the most-searched on the platform. She beat out Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, and even Kylie Jenner for the top search spot.

According to Pornhub’s data, “watching Belle consume an actual cream pie was still sexy enough to gain her millions of views and 30.9 million searches.” Searches for Delphine came close to 31 million, while Kardashian only racked up 18 million searches, and Cardi B had nearly 12 million searches. Delphine wasn’t the only streamer users were searching on Pornhub: popular social media personalities Lena the Plug, SSSniperWolf, Tana Mongeau, and even PewDiePie were prominently featured.

A team of scientists claim that smiling was a key factor in our evolution, especially because it was a way to attract less-aggressive mates. Researchers focused on genetic samples from Neanderthals, which showed that gene mutations may have led humans to “self-select less aggressive mating partners.”

The researchers concluded from this that humans were selecting mates with “I probably won’t kill you” facial expressions more commonly than their ancestors. It has long been suspected that humans developed smiles to enhance mating options but this is thought to be the study with the first definitive evidence. After the game’s release on February 6, searches began to quickly rise as the first-person shooter’s popularity surged. “On February 6th we found just 800 searches for Apex Legends,” Pornhub writes. “A week later searches exceeded 10,000 per day…”

The battle royale game peaked with a massive 357,701 searches in a single day—twice as high as those for Fortnite, one of the most popular games of the year. Pornhub also notes that some of the more frequent searches related to Apex Legends include “Apex Legends porn,” “Apex Legends hentai,” and “Apex legends Wraith.” Although Apex Legends was a break out star in 2019, Overwatch was crowned the most popular game, while Fortnite came in at second.
